When dogs are outdoor they must be kept under restraint (ex: leash) at all times unless they are in a fully fenced in area.
Do I need to register/have a license for my dog?
Yes, dogs within city limits must be registered at Ironton City Hall. There is no fee to register your dog but you will need proof of their current rabies vaccination. Up to two (2) adult dogs and two (2) adult cats are allowed per household.
How many vehicles can I park in my yard?
No more than four (4) licensed and operable vehicles per lawful dwelling unit may be parked or stored anywhere outside on Residential zoned property, excluding vehicles of occasional guests who do not reside on the property. All vehicles must be drivable and have current registration.
Am I able to store an old car that I use for parts on my property?
Such vehicles shall not be kept outside. They must be stored inside a garage or shed.
Can I park my vehicle on the street?
Vehicles and trailers may be parked on streets for no more than 24 hours at any time and must not exceed 40’ in length.
*No motor vehicle may be parked upon public streets or alleys during “snow emergencies and between the hours of 2:00 am and 6:00 am from October 15th through March 31st of each year.

Am I able to ride all-terrain vehicles in city limits?
The City of Ironton adopted Minnesota State Law for all-terrain vehicles. See MN Statute 84.92 through 94.929 (All-terrain Vehicles).
Can I store items outside?
All materials and equipment shall be stored within a building or fully screened (and not visible) from adjoining properties, except for the following: clothes lines, recreational equipment/vehicles/construction/landscaping materials currently being used on the premises.
Do I need to shovel my sidewalk?
All snow and ice must be removed within twelve (12) hours after the snow or other precipitation causing condition has ceased.
I don’t have anywhere to park my vehicle in the winter besides on the street. What should I do?
A Request for Hardship may be filed with the City via written request. The request shall have your name, address, phone number, circumstances creating the hardship, give permission for the City Crew to call at early morning hours, and a statement saying you will move your vehicle on being telephoned by City Crew or the Police Dept. when it snows. After receiving the request, the Police or City will verify the hardship exists.
